Kadirus is a company designing and manufacturing special purpose machines for the last few years. Bamboo machines have been done initially as per the requirement of a project in IDC at IIT, Mumbai and the same project is now made for commercial use. Apart from Bamboo, machines are designed and made by Kadirus for processing another prominent member of the bamboo family which is sugarcane, which can be cut to proper shapes and sizes and presented for good sale. 

Details below are of the bamboo slivering machines used for handicraft, and if required for making Agarbatti sticks, details of Stick making machine are also provided.

Slivering Machine:

This machine is used in tandem with Stick Making Machine either to make Agarbatti, match-stick or curtain reeds. 4mm thick strips to maximum width of 15mm is fed into the machine and the hand wheel is rotated , The strips will be separated into 2 parts and if the machine is set to 1mm, you will get 1mm thick strip below the cutter and 3mm thick strip over the blade . Repeat the process by feeding 3mm thick strip until you get the final strip.

Stick making machine:

This machine can be used to make Agarbatti, match-stick, curtain reeds, table mat, etc, etc by feeding the strips taken out from the fine slivering machine. By rotating the wheel you will get 6-8 sticks, ,with uniform dimension, depending on the thickness of the sticks on the other side of the machine Different cutters and corresponding brush assembly is used to make different sizes of sticks. Operation is very simple and even a child can operate the machine.

Note: Different cutter and corresponding brush assemblies are required with the basic machine to manufacture sticks for example, Agarbatti sticks require 1mm or 1.2 mm. Match-stick requires 2mm cutter and brush assemblies.

Radial Cutter:

Splits the bamboo into 6 equal parts along the length. After cross-cutting either by a carpenter’s saw or by machine, place the bamboo on the sharp edge of the radial cutter and hammer it done as shown in the picture.

Thickness Sizer:

This is a small tool to give uniform thickness to the bamboo strips. The cutting blade shapes the material when a bamboo strips is pulled between a roller and blade resulting in uniform thickness and smooth finish. Thickness of the strip is easily adjusted by loosening the wing nut and rotating the eccentric roll to a required gap between the roller and the blade, and then tightening the wing nut.

Width Sizer:

This is also a small tool to size bamboo strips to uniform width, The blades can be adjusted to a required width by rotating the knob and pull the strips in between the blades.

Splitting machine:

Thick bamboo sticks (4mm maximum) are split into thin strips in the splitting machine by rotating the wheel. In this machine we can feed long strips after removing the knots from the bamboo.
