 THE CONCEPT

A comfortable working environment has a catalytic effect on better Quantity & Quality work output.

A comfort ambience is normally interpreted as ambient temp in the range of 25 °C and relative humidity around 50 %. With the high costs of cooling homes, workplaces, business & commercial facilities, everybody is now looking at effective options to keep the so called " bought air" from leaving the premises.

In spite of all control measures ,the temperature within a building is determined by various factors based on the type of construction, the materials used for the construction and it's degree of exposure to Sun.

In most cases it is the radiant heat which contributes to 90% of the solar heat gain in any building during summer. This becomes the major hurdle for maintaining comfort levels inside a building which virtually becomes a ' Natural solar trap ' during summer due to continuous radiation of absorbed heat from the roof.

Therefore curbing the Radiant heat effect is found to be the most efficient & cost effective technique for heat controls within the building.

The radiant heat attacks the building from all sides, primarily the roof which has maximum exposure to direct sunlight. The radiation from the roof contributes to 80% of the solar heat gain of any building.

Although we have effective methods of creating the desired ambience in our workplace/office, the running costs are often found to be exorbitant. The external and varying factors like the radiant heat, results in considerable escalation of the air conditioning costs.

This is where the Thermal Barrier Coatings are of significance. They play a very effective role in reducing the Solar heat gain of a building during summer and heat loss in the winter thereby saving the extra energy lost in cooling / heating throughout all seasons.

The nett outcome is that only negligible quantum of the solar heat that strikes the roof is allowed to get transferred to the base substrate thereby providing remarkable reduction in the solar heat gain of the building interiors.

FROM THE ROOF

 

 

The above result are based on the heat gain readings taken from inside the building after the heat has passed through the roof of the building. ( ie.: absorbed by the roof and conducted / radiated)

The readings show that when the Sun load is 450 BTU, a steel roof transfers 80% of the Sun load into the building whereas the roof coated with KETHERM transfers only 23% of the Sun load.

KETHERM effects a 55% - 60% reduction in the temperature gain of the roof top.


THE PRODUCT ............... SPECIALTIES

KETHERM ... with its reflective surface has a very high Albedo. This reflects the solar rays thereby reducing the heating effect due to Radiant heat. The formulary of a U.V. resistant Polyurethane topping facilitates the retention of Albedo for longer durations compared to conventional systems.

The surface based on hi-tech Urethane technology & incorporated with P. U. compatible air filled micro beads, functions as an effective thermal barrier with high Thermal resistance.

The system binder being a Polyurethane formulary imparts highly improved mechanical properties which contributes to the extended life of the coating. It also has better ability to withstand Thermal shock which leads to Thermal Fatigue of the base substrate resulting in the deterioration of its strength and properties.

The system being Cast-in-situ is free of voids or joints thereby eliminating the probability of any moisture entrapment between the coating and the substrate unlike conventional thermal barrier products. Moisture entrapment highly reduces the thermal resistance of the coating.

KETHERM by it's high Albedo reflects backs of the Solar radiation. Its high Thermal resistivity curbs the heat transfer by Conduction & makes it an ideal thermal barrier.
